Heavy-duty trucks are identified as a crucial component of this strategy, offering fleet operators a means to reduce diesel consumption and emissions while maintaining performance for hauling heavy loads.
The BYD New Energy truck business is reportedly becoming a substantial operation. In September alone, BYD sold 6,848 NEV trucks, an increase of 113.33% compared to the previous year. For the first nine months of 2026, deliveries reached 53,032 units, marking a 28.46% increase over the same period in 2025.
The Q3 electric semi truck features BYD's blade-style lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery packs, totaling 600 kWh. It is equipped with a 600 kW (approximately 800 hp) dual-motor system designed to haul up to 108,000 lbs. The truck has a reported range of over 325 km (approximately 200 miles) on a single charge. For rapid recharging, the Q3 supports dual-gun DC fast charging, capable of reaching an 80% state of charge from 20% in about 30 minutes.
